The New York Times editorializes:
We can't think of a president who has gone to the American people more often than George W. Bush has to ask them to forget about things like democracy, judicial process and the balance of powers — and just trust him. We also can't think of a president who has deserved that trust less.I know the Times' editorial staff is not particularly fond of the Bush administration, and I know they've been writing editorials along these lines for years now, but this is harsher than their usual lot. I don't know what it was that set them off — the wiretapping, the force-feeding, the Foreign Affairs article — but whatever it was, they're pissed.
